Apple Tree, ‘Red Delicious’

Grow Your Own Fresh Fruit Trees!

‘Red Delicious’ is one of the most famous American apples and one of the most widely grown apple varieties.  Known for its beautiful crimson color, this apple tree would make a lovely addition to an edible landscape with its bold red color against a backdrop of green foliage.  ‘Red Delicious’ produces medium-large apples with a tall conical shape and strong shelf appeal. This crisp and juicy apple has waxy dark-red skin and pure white flesh. Its distinctive, delicious flavor makes it a best seller in world-wide markets.

‘Red Delicious’ bears more heavily when pollinated with ‘Golden Delicious’. They will ripen together from September to October, making an attractive red and gold fall garden display. Although the names are similar, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious are entirely different varieties.  ‘Honeycrisp’ or ‘Jonathan’ may also be used to pollinate ‘Red Delicious’.
