Gooseberry bush ‘Hinnomaki’ Red, produces a heavy crop of large red gooseberries in mid July which have a sweet flesh and tangy skin. Delicious eaten fresh from the tree, this plant is self fertile so doesn’t require a pollination partner. Fruits have tangy outer skin and succulent sweet flesh for a unique ‘sweet-tart’ flavor. They also make some of the best pies you’ve ever tasted. This is our most recommended variety of gooseberry and has great disease resistance. When the fruits turn red they are ready to pick, it’s that simple. They retain the red color during cooking – they taste and look superb. Plant has good vigor and will have heavy crops.
