Kiwi, ‘Prolific’

Kiwi ‘Prolific’ is a flavorful cultivar with smooth skin, so there is no need to peel them, unlike the fuzzy variety! This self-pollinating kiwi vine may be used as a pollinator for other female cultivars and is excellent for covering walls or fences. It produces medium to large fruit, similar to several varieties of grapes. When ripe, this tasty fruit has a reddish-violet blush on the skin and flesh. Kiwi ‘Prolific’ has more cold tolerance than other species and is mainly grown in areas where temperatures can range from 10°F to -18°F. This kiwi is delicious for fresh eating, salads, jelly, and desserts!

Fertilize when planting. Kiwi 'Prolific' will tolerate any well-drained soil type. Mulch to retain moisture and keep soil cool. This kiwi vine will need a wall or trellis system for support.
