Strawberry 'Temptation' Everbearing
Grow Your Own Fresh Fruit!
A delicious ‘traditional’ strawberry with medium-sized fruit. Strawberry ‘Temptation’ is an everbearing variety that will produce a steady supply of bright red fruit throughout the growing season. Great tasting, ‘Temptation’ produces fruit on a very well presented plant. Its vigorous, compact growth is excellent for hanging baskets, grow bags, pots, and patio containers, as well as, open ground production. It doesn’t produce runners but the flavor of the bright red berries is just as delicious as all of the others. Growing strawberries is really easy and because ‘Temptation’ is a compact grower, it is perfect for the home garden! They will grow just about anywhere in the garden if they get at least 6 hours of sunlight and the soil is nice and rich. The biggest problem is getting to the fruit before everybody else in the family pinches them.
To enjoy fresh, juicy strawberries from your own garden, begin by setting plants out as early as possible in the spring. Spade the soil deeply and set the plants in double or triple rows. Strawberries also do well planted in containers.
For winter protection, cover plants with straw or leaves after the temperature has fallen to about 20° F. Remove covering in the spring once growth begins. The bed should be replaced after two years since quality and yield will begin to decrease.

'Temptation' delivers fruit all summer, with a large initial harvest and a steady crop the rest of the season.
General Information +
General Characteristics: Recommended for freezing, 'Temptation' bears from spring through fall. These berries are packed with more flavor and succulent bite than you would imagine possible. They're perfect for fresh eating – a great taste that's just as easy to grow as the larger, common berries!
Best of all, this strawberry flowers and fruits just about 3 months after planting, so if you want later berries, you can keep the blooms pinched back until you're ready for a big crop! Compact and easy to grow in containers of all kinds, from strawberry jars to hanging baskets and flower pouches, 'Temptation' is an all-around adaptable plant. You will find it irresistible to taste!
Tip: Well suited to short season climates. Apply a light mulch to keep weeds down, conserve moisture and keep fruit clean. Fertilize beds in early summer and again in September with a balanced fertilizer. Do not fertilize if plants are flowering. Note that June-bearing plants produce the second year after planting.
Use: Vigorous but compact growth is excellent for hanging baskets or patio containers.
Planting/Care Instructions +
Moisture: Best in rich, moist, well-drained soil containing plenty of organic matter. Water frequently until plants are growing vigorously. Watering is very important in early summer and September.
Planting Instructions: Soak plants in water a few minutes before planting. May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is level with the soil surface and water thoroughly. When planting, make sure that the roots are spread apart, and not tightly packed in a small hole. Apply fertilizer after growth begins.
Remove runners for best fruit production. Grow in average, medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun. Prefers organically rich, sandy loams. Strawberries are a high maintenance fruit crop which can be grown all over the United States.
Pests or Diseases: Tough and resilient in relation to pest and diseases. Good disease resistance. Must be planted in well-drained soil, with crown set at soil level.
