Tulip, ‘Classic’ Mix

Great classic tulip blooms! These hybrids have large flowers on long, sturdy stems, with brilliant colors of red and yellow. Huge, gorgeous, flowers that are very tall. Great cut flower. These giants are among the most weather resistant of all garden tulips, have exceptional perennial qualities and will produce many lovely flowers year after year. We recommend fertilization twice a year to improve their perennial nature. Most popular landscape varieties because of the large cup-shaped petals and brilliant flower colors.

Darwin Hybrid: These hybrids have large flowers on long, sturdy stems, with brilliant colors in all shades between red and yellow. The flower is usually closed in the morning and opens to resemble a poppy as the day goes along. These are improved larger-flowering Darwin types. Darwin hybrids usually bloom several weeks earlier than the regular Darwin types. Tulips look best in mass plantings. They make good container plants and are delightful cut flowers.

Set the bulbs firmly in place, with the pointed ends facing upward. 3. Cover the bulbs with soil and water thoroughly. Grow in sun in informal groupings of 5 or more bulbs. Plant bulbs in fall 3-4 inches deep or about two times the height of the bulb and 5" apart in well-drained soil with plenty of humus. Remove old flowers leaving as much stem and foliage as possible until they die down. Plant bulbs in containers with soil and cool at 40° for 15 weeks. Follow these easy to grow tips.
