The flower is usually closed in the morning and opens to resemble a poppy as the day goes along. These are improved larger-flowering Darwin types. Darwin hybrids usually bloom several weeks earlier than the regular Darwin types. Tulips look best in mass plantings. They make good container plants and are delightful cut flowers.
