Strawberry ‘Eversweet’

Bred especially for southern gardens, ‘Eversweet™’ tolerates temperatures over 100 degrees without loss of fruit quality. Enjoy large berries with exceptional flavorful grown right in your home garden. These strawberry plants are an excellent choice for bedding plant packs and hanging baskets. Strawberry ‘Eversweet™’ is a dormant plant selected by DeGroot, offering you the opportunity to get a head start to the season! Due to its dormant state, this plant may lack foliage until it is planted. There is no need to wait until after frost, this may be planted as soon as the ground is workable. Once planted, apply 6 inches of mulch for root protection. This early planting prevents transplant shock and allows it more time to develop its root system. If your plant does have foliage, provide protection from frost. Depending on the climate and weather experienced after planting, this plant could take up to 4-6 weeks to break dormancy and show signs of growth.

Planting/Care Instructions +

Planting Instructions: Soak plants in water a few minutes before planting. May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is level with the soil surface and water thoroughly. When planting, make sure that the roots are spread apart, and not tightly packed in a small hole. Apply fertilizer after growth begins. Remove runners for best fruit production. Grow in average, medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun. Prefers organically rich, sandy loams. Strawberries are a high maintenance fruit crop which can be grown all over the United States.

Pests or Diseases: Good disease resistance. Susceptible to root rot and must be planted in well-drained soil, with crown set at soil level.
